Dish TV’s Watcho Partners with Cloud TV OS to Expand Reach on Smart TVs

Dish TV’s OTT platform Watcho has announced a strategic partnership with Cloud Walker’s Cloud TV OS to expand its subscriber base and enhance the viewing experience on smart TVs. This collaboration will integrate Watcho’s extensive content library directly into Cloud TV OS, making it available on over 200 TV brands and reaching a rapidly growing audience of more than 18 million users across 6 million devices, the company revealed on Thursday. The move is expected to significantly boost Watcho’s visibility and user engagement by tapping into the growing smart TV market.

The Indian television market is increasingly shifting toward connected devices, with smart TVs becoming the norm in many households. Recognizing this shift, Dish TV is positioning itself to capture this growing audience. Sukhpreet Singh, Chief Revenue Officer of Dish TV, highlighted the importance of adapting to this changing landscape. “The TV ecosystem is increasingly dominated by connected televisions. More and more new TV sets in India are going to be smart TVs and connected,” Singh said. He emphasized that even the existing installed base of non-smart televisions is gradually being replaced by smart TVs. “There will be a replacement of old televisions with new smart TVs. From a business point of view, we want to be on every television,” he added.

The partnership with Cloud TV OS enables Watcho to seamlessly integrate its platform into smart TVs, providing users with a more intuitive and hassle-free experience. Users will benefit from a single login across devices, eliminating the need to repeatedly sign in. This streamlined access is designed to enhance user engagement by making it easier for viewers to discover and enjoy content. Personalized recommendations based on viewing habits will further improve content discovery, ensuring that users find shows and movies that match their interests.

A key feature of the collaboration is the introduction of Cloud TV Bundles, which offer exclusive deals on premium entertainment. With a single Watcho subscription, users will have access to leading streaming platforms, including JioHotstar, SonyLIV, and ZEE5, unlocking a vast catalog of movies, web series, and live sports events. This bundled approach allows Watcho to offer a more comprehensive entertainment package, increasing its appeal to a broader audience.

Singh noted that the partnership positions Dish TV to cater to both new and existing users. For new smart TV users, the direct integration with Cloud TV OS ensures that Watcho is readily available on their devices. For users with non-smart TVs, Dish TV already provides solutions such as Android boxes and hybrid boxes, which enable smart TV functionality. “The partnership will definitely help us acquire new subscribers who are upgrading to smart TVs,” Singh said. This strategy ensures that Watcho can reach users across different market segments, maximizing its overall audience base.

The integration with Cloud TV OS is expected to drive significant growth for Watcho by expanding its reach and improving user retention. The smart TV market in India is growing rapidly, with more consumers opting for connected devices to access their favorite content. By embedding Watcho into Cloud TV OS, Dish TV is securing a stronger foothold in this competitive space. Singh underscored the long-term strategic value of the partnership, saying, “With this, we cover every territory.”

With the growing dominance of smart TVs and connected viewing, Dish TV’s Watcho is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend. The combination of seamless integration, personalized content recommendations, and bundled premium offerings is expected to boost Watcho’s subscriber base and drive higher engagement. As more consumers embrace smart TV technology, Watcho’s presence on Cloud TV OS ensures that it remains a key player in the evolving home entertainment market.
