For the upcoming 2024 season, the NFL announced that Peacock is set to broadcast the first week’s game live from São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, September 6th. The week-1 game features the Philadelphia Eagles squaring off against an opponent yet to be revealed. And, it will be the first-ever regular season of the NFL in South America and the first Friday night game on an opening weekend in over 50 years.
“It’s exciting for Peacock to exclusively showcase the NFL’s first-ever regular season game in Brazil as part of NBC Sports’ unprecedented presentation of three primetime games on the NFL’s opening weekend. Peacock continues to deliver the best experience in sports streaming, as this game will follow this summer’s Paris Olympics and Paralympics, which will have every event live streamed on the service,” said Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports.
Amazon Prime Video, which has been streaming Thursday night games, has also secured the rights to stream Wild-Card playoff games for 2024. This will be the second time that a playoff has been exclusively allowed to be aired via a streaming service.

The NFL executive vice president of media distribution also added, “As media consumption evolves, the NFL continues to work with our partners to put our games on digital platforms where our fans are increasingly spending their time. The viewership success of both Thursday Night Football on Prime Video and the historic Wild Card game on Peacock last season are strong indicators that our streaming distribution is resonating with our fans.”
