YouTube TV and Paramount Global Renew Carriage Deal, Avoiding Channel Blackout

YouTube TV and Paramount Global have reached a new multi-year agreement, ensuring continued access to CBS stations, MTV, Comedy Central, and more than 20 other channels for subscribers. As part of the deal, YouTube TV now has the right to bundle Paramount+ for eligible customers.

The agreement was announced Saturday evening, following Paramount’s warning earlier in the week about a potential blackout of its channels on YouTube TV. Negotiations continued even after the previous contract expired on Thursday night, leading to a temporary extension before finalizing the renewal.

With the deal in place, YouTube TV subscribers won’t miss key programming, including NCAA March Madness on CBS. Other networks remaining on the platform include CBS Sports Network, BET, Nickelodeon, TV Land, Paramount Network, CMT, Nick Jr., Smithsonian Channel, and VH1.

While financial terms were not disclosed, Paramount had pushed for a rate increase, while YouTube TV aimed to secure a “fair agreement” without raising costs for subscribers. The renewed partnership enhances streaming options, keeping Paramount+ with Showtime and BET+ available via YouTube Primetime Channels. Additionally, Google now has the right to offer Paramount+ to eligible YouTube TV customers.

A Paramount spokesperson confirmed, “We are pleased to announce a renewed Paramount-Google agreement for the continued carriage of Paramount’s leading portfolio of entertainment, news, and sports networks across YouTube TV’s platform.”

A YouTube rep added, “We’re happy to share that we’ve reached a deal to continue carrying Paramount channels, including CBS, CBS Sports, Nickelodeon, and more. With this agreement, YouTube TV will continue to offer 100-plus channels and add-ons including Paramount+, enabling more user choice in the future. To our subscribers, we appreciate your patience while we negotiated on your behalf.”
