Viacom18 Sets Mobile Ad Rates on Par with TV for Olympics 2024

Viacom18 has announced that mobile ad rates for the Paris Olympics 2024 will be set at INR 1,40,000 per 10 seconds, matching the rates for both standard and high-definition TV channels.

Notably, the Olympics will start on July 26 and will be broadcast in multiple languages with 18 live feeds. According to the media company’s rate card, the spot rate for mobile ads is aligned with the rates for TV channels, ensuring uniform pricing across platforms.

The standalone spot rate for Viacom18’s HD channel is set at INR 60,000 per 10-second spot, which is lower than the connected TV (CTV) spot rate of INR 75,000. Additionally, mid-roll and pre-roll ads are priced at INR 250 per impression.

Notably, the Paris Olympics will be streamed for free on JioCinema and will also be broadcast on its pay channel, Sports18.

Additionally, for cross-platform presence, Viacom18 is seeking Rs 20 crore from co-presenting sponsors. The anticipated investment for associate sponsors is INR 12 crore, while special partners are expected to contribute INR 7 crore across platforms.

Furthermore, Viacom18 has allocated advertising outlays of INR 10 crore for co-presenting sponsors, INR 5 crore for associate sponsors, and INR 3 crore for special partners for both mobile and TV platforms. For connected TV (CTV), the outlays are INR 5 crore for co-presenting sponsors, INR 3 crore for associate sponsors, and INR 1.5 crore for special partners across the three categories.

Through Sports18, Viacom18 is offering 100 million viewers and 150 million digital viewers via JioCinema during the 17-day Paris Olympics extravaganza, ending on August 11th. Commentary will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with 18 simultaneous live feeds tailored to different sports in English.

Notably, Viacom18 secured the media rights for the 2024 Olympic Games with a deal valued at USD 31 million, surpassing the USD 10 million paid by Sony Pictures Networks India for the Tokyo Olympics rights.
