With over 74M Active Monthly Users, Tubi TV takes the Second Position in the FAST Services.
Tubi, the streaming service owned by Fox and known for its free, ad-supported content, has witnessed a surge in growth by reaching 74 million active users per month, marking an increase from its 64 million users earlier in February. Notably, in just the first six months of 2023, viewers have streamed almost four billion hours of content on the platform.
Nielsen’s recent data from July highlighted that Tubi now accounts for 1.4% of the TV watching time, positioning it right behind its competitor, Pluto TV. Interestingly, Pluto TV had logged 80 million monthly active users during 2023’s initial quarter.
Anjali Sud, who took on her role as the CEO of Tubi this September, said,
“Our reach is now comparable to some of the leading cable networks. Viewers gravitate towards our unique, entirely free, digital-first streaming platform.”
This uptick in Tubi’s viewership indicates a broader trend where audiences prefer FAST platforms while gradually moving away from costlier subscription-based platforms such as Netflix and Disney+. Traditional cable TV, meanwhile, is losing ground, with its share dipping below 50% among viewers in the U.S., as per Nielsen’s findings.
Tubi’s extensive collection includes over 200,000 film and TV episode titles, supplemented by roughly 250 dedicated FAST channels. The platform also proudly hosts 200 in-house original shows.
In corporate developments during July, Fox Corp announced Anjali Sud, previously the head of video-sharing platform Vimeo, as the new chief executive of Tubi.
Sud assumed her new role on September 1, succeeding Tubi’s founder and former chief executive, Farhad Massoudi. She will be reporting to Tubi Media Group CEO Paul Cheesbrough.
Before her tenure at Vimeo, which spanned nearly nine years, Sud held positions at Time Warner and Amazon.com.
