Sky and UKTV have announced a multi-year extension to their longstanding partnership, ensuring continued access to a wide range of popular UKTV content for Sky and NOW customers.
Under the renewed agreement, viewers will still enjoy a variety of channels, including fan favorites such as Gold and Alibi. The deal secures continued access to hit dramas like Murdoch Mysteries, The Red King, and CSI: Vegas, as well as classic comedies like Only Fools And Horses, Dad’s Army, and The Vicar of Dibley. In addition, the partnership will bring entertainment shows such as World’s Most Dangerous Roads, Battle In The Box, and the highly anticipated documentary Absolutely Fabulous: Inside Out, among other programming.
Jon Simkin, Managing Director, Content Partnerships, Sky, commented, “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with UKTV. UKTV’s distinctive content across channels such as Alibi and Gold is loved by Sky customers. This agreement reinforces our commitment to providing the best entertainment experience to our customers across the UK and Ireland.”
Furthermore, UKTV’s streaming service U, previously known as UKTV Play, is now available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream devices in the UK, as part of the extended deal making its debut for Sky customers. This is the first time Sky customers will be able to use the U app, further enhancing their entertainment options.
Additionally, the launch comes after the rebranding of UKTV’s streaming service to U, which replaced UKTV Play in July. With a content library boasting nearly 8,500 hours, U offers viewers an extensive range of shows across various genres under one cohesive brand.
Sam Tewungwa, Managing Director, UKTV, added “We’ve enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Sky over a number of years and we are delighted to be extending our partnership so that Sky customers can continue to enjoy the rich mix of content that UKTV has to offer.”
