Sky Deutschland Rolls Out Sky Stream Upgrade for Sky Q Customers

Sky Deutschland has started offering its streaming service Sky Stream to existing Sky Q customers using the Sky Q IP box. The upgrade replaces the existing Sky Q over IP service and streaming box. Many customers have already received the upgrade at no extra cost, with the rest expected to follow soon.

The Sky Stream box connects to the TV and home network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and gives access to around 100 free-to-air TV channels, most in HD quality. It also supports major streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ along with broadcaster media libraries and Sky’s own content, including films, series, and sports.

Sky Stream features a Smart Search function, which allows users to find content across different providers without switching apps. The service also includes voice control for easier navigation. Additional features include Time Shift for pausing live TV, restart options for certain shows, and an integrated programme guide for linear TV. Users can create personalised playlists for the whole household.

Sky Stream continues to offer live sports coverage, including the Bundesliga, Premier League, DFB-Pokal, and Formula 1. The upgrade is automatic and does not require any action from customers. Existing Sky Q IP remote controls will remain compatible, and Sky provides a guide to the new interface on the service’s homepage.

Sky Stream launched in Germany on July 31, 2024, with the same channel lineup available via cable and satellite, including UHD/HDR content for customers with the correct package. The move signals Sky’s ongoing shift from traditional cable and satellite services toward a streaming-based platform.
