Paramount+ Unveils Ad-Supported ‘Basic’ Plan for International Markets

Paramount+ Expands Global Reach with Launch of ‘Basic (with Ads)’ Plan in Canada and Australia

Paramount+ is set to introduce its ‘Basic (with ads)’ subscription plan internationally, starting with Canada in April and Australia in June, with each priced at C$6.99 and A$6.99 respectively. This addition is part of Paramount’s strategy to offer more flexibility to its international subscribers. The ‘Premium’ plan is also making its way to Europe, beginning with France.

The ‘Basic (with ads)’ tier allows subscribers in Canada and Australia to access Paramount+’s extensive content library, including top series and films like the first and second seasons of “Halo,” the concluding season of “Star Trek: Discovery,” and the new series “A Gentleman in Moscow.” It also includes “Mayor of Kingstown,” “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” and “Knuckles” from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, in addition to exclusive sports content in Australia.

Following the successful launch of the ‘Premium’ tier in various regions including Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico, Paramount+ is expanding this premium service to France. The ‘Premium’ option offers enhanced viewing with 4K UHD, HDR10, and Dolby Vision, and allows streaming on up to four devices simultaneously. The cost for this plan in France is set at €10.99 per month or €97.99 annually.

Marco Nobili, EVP and International General Manager of Paramount+, stated, “Our pricing strategy and a market-by-market approach to our offering is key to providing customers choice, flexibility and value. The ‘Premium’ tier has demonstrated great success in Canada, Australia and Latin America. I am confident this offering will also enable us to reach new subscribers in Europe. As we launch ‘Basic (with ads)’ in our international markets, we can offer our incredible content at an even more competitive price to increase our reach and expand our advertising offerings to partners. The ‘Basic’ tier allows us to continue to lead on value by providing consumers an even more affordable entertainment choice for the entire family.”

Lee Sears, President of International Markets Advertising Sales, remarked, “By introducing the ‘Basic (with ads)’ plan in Canada and Australia, we will enhance our value to our partners by enabling advertisers to buy across our global franchises, series and films through our digital platform, EyeQ, alongside the breadth of Paramount’s premium video inventory in a comprehensive and impactful way.”
