ITVX Hits 315 Million Views in January, Inks Deal with Amazon to Secure James Bond Films
In January, ITVX, ITV’s online streaming platform, achieved a milestone with 315 million views. This figure represents the highest monthly viewership the ad-supported video-on-demand service has ever experienced.
The viewership peaked on January 28, following England’s World Cup departure on December 10, 2022. ITVX saw 14.8 million views and 6.1 million hours of content streamed. Key attractions included the FA Cup, the premiere of “Love Island All Stars,” and the second season debut of the drama “Trigger Point.”
The “Love Island All Stars” series alone captivated audiences with 43 million views, while ITVX’s FA Cup broadcasts, featuring the Liverpool vs. Norwich City match, attracted 11 million views.
Dramatic content on ITVX also significantly contributed to viewership, with dramas amassing 108 million views. The limited series “Mr Bates vs the Post Office” garnered 22 million views, and the crime series “After the Flood” secured 20 million views.
Rufus Radcliffe, ITV’s Managing Director for Streaming, commented, “ITVX has hit the ground running in 2024. It’s clear that our breadth of quality programming across all genres has brought viewers in their multiple millions, and our Drama programming, with the enormous success of Mr Bates as well as After the Flood and the return of Trigger Point, has been extremely successful.”
Additionally, ITV announced a partnership with Amazon MGM Studios Distribution to bring 25 James Bond films to its channels and ITVX. This collaboration marks the first time the James Bond collection will be accessible on an ad-supported streaming platform in the UK. The films will be introduced on ITV4 starting with “Goldfinger” on March 4 and will be available on ITVX for 30 days following their broadcast. The Bond series will feature prominently on ITV channels throughout the year.
Darren Nartey, Senior Acquisitions Manager for Films and Kids at ITV, said, “It doesn’t get any more iconic than James Bond, and we are honoured to bring this fantastic catalogue of films to our viewers both on our linear channels and via catch-up on ITVX.”
