Doordarshan (DD), India’s national broadcaster, has joined hands with the Hockey India League (HIL) to transform IndiaKaGame hockey into a nationwide celebration and bring hockey players into the spotlight in every household. The much-anticipated Hockey India League is scheduled to kick off on December 28, 2024.
Gaurav Dwivedi, chief executive officer of Prasar Bharati, said, “Doordarshan as the public broadcaster is looking forward to contributing to this broader vision through this partnership. The idea is to elevate hockey production and broadcast to global sporting standards. The sports lovers across the world can now watch the Indian Hockey League, both men and women on DD Sports and Waves- the recently launched OTT platform of Prasar Bharati.”
The league, set to take place in Rourkela and Ranchi, will feature eight men’s and four women’s teams, showcasing talent from India and abroad. This season also marks a significant step towards inclusivity, with the introduction of the women’s league.
