DirecTV is introducing a new add-on called MyHome Team for its MySports package, giving subscribers access to live local games from 37 professional teams in Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Hockey League (NHL). The add-on costs $19.99 a month and builds on DirecTV’s strategy of offering slimmer, more customizable sports bundles.
The MyHome Team package provides access to 20 regional sports networks (RSNs) or team-specific channels. This includes in-market games from 12 MLB teams, 15 NBA teams, and 10 NHL teams. At launch, the available networks include Altitude Sports and Entertainment (serving Denver and other regional areas), Chicago Sports Network, Marquee Sports Network (Chicago), and FanDuel Sports Network (covering major cities like Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, and more). The newly launched Rangers Sports Network will cover games in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
Vince Torres, Chief Marketing Officer at DirecTV, said, “MyHome Team delivers unmatched flexibility and control for a local sports enthusiast to tune in and watch their teams whenever they want, whether that’s all season long or during portions of the season. With industry-leading features like Sports Mode, Game Time Notifications, Pre-Game Stats, and Live Scores included, DirecTV customers can stream their local team satellite-free and never miss a play.”
Most of the channels (16 out of 20) come from an agreement with Main Street Sports Group, LLC formerly known as Diamond Sports Group which manages the FanDuel Sports Network after rebranding from Bally Sports. However, subscribers will only have access to the networks available in their local market.
DirecTV’s MySports package, launched in January, costs $69.99 per month ($49.99 for the first three months). It includes over 20 national sports and broadcast channels like MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NHL Network, ABC, ESPN, TBS, TNT, TruTV, and ESPN+. Subscribers can also get a MySports Extra Mini-Pack for $12.99 a month, which includes Motor Trend, NFL Red Zone, and Willow TV.
The MyHome Team add-on gives MySports subscribers a more complete sports viewing experience by adding local games. DirecTV plans to expand coverage to more markets as it finalizes agreements with additional regional networks and team channels.
