BBC Rolls Out New Global App and Website

BBC Unveils Global App and Website in Collaboration with BBC Studios and News Division

The BBC has unveiled a new app designed to aggregate content across its network for international audiences.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between BBC Studios, the BBC’s commercial branch, and BBC News. The app provides access to a wide range of stories and videos that span various subjects such as business, innovation, culture, travel, and environmental issues, in addition to extensive news, sports, and live event coverage.

The revamped BBC website was rolled out in North America in December, and BBC Studios debuted the BBC News FAST channel in the US.

The app’s enhancements include a dedicated live section for the latest news and worldwide sports events. Additionally, a new video segment has been introduced, showcasing a vast array of BBC-produced videos and multimedia narratives covering topics such as climate change, sustainability, science, health, entertainment, and history.

The organization also highlighted the new uniform and intuitive design across both the website and app, aimed at enhancing user experience and providing greater flexibility and opportunities for advertisements and sponsorships.

Naja Nielsen, BBC News’ Digital Director, stated, “We know there is a huge appetite for impartial BBC News journalism as we report – without an agenda – on the burning issues of our time. Thanks to our independent journalism, the BBC is the world’s most trusted international news media organization, reaching more than 400 million people each week. As we expand and develop our global digital newsroom, I am thrilled that our new global app and website will provide an excellent experience and showcase our world-beating journalism much better.”

Lori Suchcicki, SVP of Advertising EMEA at BBC Studios, remarked, “The new website and app provide a trusted, premium environment for advertisers and represent the BBC’s continued investment in high-quality journalism globally and our commitment to bringing news and insights from the EMEA region to millions of people across the world. We’re excited that our commercial partners will enjoy several enhancements that make it easier for brands to connect with the BBC.com audience, unlocking new partnership capabilities and opportunities for marketers.”

The BBC app is now available for Apple users through the App Store and Android devices via Google Play.
