YouTube Testing Ad-Free Video Sharing for Premium Users

YouTube has been pushing users to either subscribe to YouTube Premium or sit through ads while streaming videos. In a new move to attract more Premium subscribers, the Google-owned platform is testing a feature that allows Premium members to share an ad-free viewing experience with non-subscribers.

According to YouTube, this experimental feature is currently available for testing in select countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The company may expand the feature to more regions depending on the feedback from the initial testing phase. Under this experiment, YouTube Premium subscribers can share up to 10 ad-free video views per month with friends or family members. The recipients can watch the shared videos without ads, offering them a temporary preview of the benefits of YouTube Premium.

Google describes it as “a great way to let them try out the ad-free experience of YouTube Premium.” However, YouTube has also clarified that this is an optional benefit and may be discontinued at any time. Additionally, the feature is limited to 10 ad-free shared videos per month, and its future availability is uncertain.

How to Share an Ad-Free Video on YouTube

If you’re in one of the eligible countries where Google is testing this feature, you can share ad-free videos with others by following these steps:

  1. Open the YouTube Main app and ensure you’re signed in to your YouTube Premium account.
  2. Go to the video’s watch page and tap on Share.
  3. Tap on Share ad-free.
  4. Choose Copy link or select an app to share the link.

Important: The recipient must be logged into their YouTube account to watch the shared video without ads.
