TelevisaUnivision and Disney Strike Distribution Deal to Expand Spanish-Language Content Across U.S. and Mexico

TelevisaUnivision and Disney Entertainment have entered into a new multi-region distribution partnership aimed at enhancing Spanish-language programming for audiences in the U.S. and Mexico. Starting June 3, TelevisaUnivision’s major U.S. networks Univision, UniMás, TUDN, and Galavisión will be added to Hulu + Live TV’s core channel lineup. This addition is set to arrive just in time for major soccer events like the FIFA Club World Cup and the Concacaf Gold Cup. These channels are known for delivering some of the most-watched Spanish-language content in the country, covering everything from dramas and reality shows to news, sports, and live entertainment. Later on, more of TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language specialty channels such as N+FORO, TLNovelas, Bandamax, De Película, De Película Clásico, Telehit, and Telehit Música  will be added to the Español add-on for Hulu + Live TV subscribers.

In another part of the deal, Disney+ and ViX will be offered as a combined streaming package in Mexico. Starting in early June, ViX subscribers will gain access to Disney+ content, including blockbuster movies, hit shows, and iconic Disney franchises. This bundle will give users in Mexico a broader and more diverse content library within a single subscription. The partnership is being positioned as a significant move to enhance access to Spanish-language content across key markets. TelevisaUnivision is widely recognized as the leading producer of Spanish-language programming globally. The new collaboration underscores its role in anchoring any comprehensive pay TV service and boosting direct-to-consumer reach through ViX.

Rafael Urbina, President of Streaming and Digital at TelevisaUnivision, said, “We’re thrilled to enter into this new partnership with Disney that puts our community at the center. TelevisaUnivision is the top producer of Spanish-language content in the world, and this deal underscores two critically important elements: our portfolio is a main anchor for any pay TV distributor without TelevisaUnivision, there is no complete pay-tv offering; and our direct-to-consumer business continues to break boundaries as ViX further strengthens its powerful connection to Hispanics around the world.”

With Disney+ and ViX now offered together in Mexico, the companies are aiming to make streaming more accessible and convenient for Spanish-speaking audiences. The combination of ViX’s extensive Spanish-language catalog with Disney’s world-renowned content is expected to boost subscriptions and engagement in the region.

Lauren Tempest, General Manager, Hulu & EVP, DTC Content Partnerships, said, “This new partnership allows us to strategically build upon our current channel offering and Spanish-language content available on Hulu + Live TV, while providing subscribers in Mexico with a meaningful opportunity to access the very best of Disney’s blockbuster films, award-winning Originals and iconic franchises alongside TelevisaUnivision’s industry-leading Spanish-language content including news, novelas, sports and more in one subscription.”

This agreement highlights the growing importance of Spanish-speaking audiences in North America’s streaming and broadcast landscape. It also reflects broader trends in media, where companies are bundling services and diversifying programming to reach wider and more specific demographic segments. By aligning their resources, Disney and TelevisaUnivision aim to improve their competitive positions in an increasingly fragmented streaming market. The deal provides more value to viewers while helping both companies grow their customer bases through targeted content strategies.
