Sky has launched the second generation of its Sky Glass TV, featuring a brighter 4K Quantum Dot display and an upgraded Dolby Atmos sound system. The TV is available in three sizes 43”, 55”, and 65” and three updated color options: Volcanic Grey, Arctic Silver, and Atlantic Blue. Matching remotes are included with each unit.
The new model boasts a refined 4K HDR screen with advanced HDR and precision contrast enhancement, allowing for deeper blacks and brighter highlights. A wider viewing angle aims to enhance the overall visual experience, while the device also adjusts its settings automatically based on the content being viewed.
Sky has also upgraded the built-in Dolby Atmos sound system. The second-generation model now includes seven speakers, featuring a soundbar and dual subwoofer, designed to improve bass and vocal clarity.
Sky Glass Gen 2 introduces a redesigned stand with a simple two-prong system, eliminating the need for screws or tools. Customers can also opt for a new wall mount that tilts, swivels and sits flush against the wall. The TV remains compatible with universal mounts for those who already own one.
Sky Glass Gen 2 operates on Sky OS, previously known as Entertainment OS. The TV integrates Sky’s voice control system, allowing users to navigate content, search for actors or genres, and control playback through voice commands by saying “Hello Sky.”
The Playlist feature lets users save content from Sky and other streaming apps in one place. It also tracks past and upcoming episodes, even if a show moves between different streaming platforms or channels.
The new Sky Glass Gen 2 will be available starting February 12 through Sky.com, Sky retail stores, Sky call centres, and Currys.co.uk. Customers can either pay in full or opt for interest-free monthly payments:
- £14 per month for the 43” model
- £19 per month for the 55” model
- £24 per month for the 65” model
Sky also provides subscription flexibility, allowing customers to choose between a 24-month contract for the best pricing or a rolling 31-day plan.
Additionally, Later this year, Sky plans to launch Sky Glass Air, which is a different model and is equipped with a 4K Quantum Dot HDR screen with global dimming and contrast enhancement. It is also equipped with 2.0 stereo speakers with Dolby Audio. Furthermore, Sky Glass Air will be available in three sizes 43”, 55”, and 65” and three colors: Carbon Grey, Cotton White, and Sea Green. Sky Glass Air will be introduced similarly to how it is done with Sky Glass Gen 2. In addition, the Sky OS operating system will come with features such as voice control and aggregated content. The details on pricing and availability are likely to be given closer to the launch date.
