Adar Poonawalla’s Serene Productions has agreed to invest INR 1,000 crore in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. The deal will see Serene Productions acquire a 50% stake in the renowned production house, with Karan Johar retaining the remaining half.
Notably, The Raine Group acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Dharma in the recent investment agreement between Serene Productions and Dharma Productions. On the legal front, Dharma was represented by AZB & Partners, while Serene Productions received legal counsel from JSA.

Karan Johar will continue as Executive Chairman of Dharma Productions, guiding the company’s creative direction following Serene Productions’ major investment. Additionally, Apoorva Mehta will remain in his role as Chief Executive Officer, overseeing strategic and operational management.
