Paramount+ Enhances French Offering with New Canal+ Partnership

Paramount+ and Canal+ Group have enhanced their collaboration and unveiled an expanded partnership in France. The agreement focuses on widening the distribution of Paramount+ and its diverse content library across the French market.

Furthermore, Canal+ subscribers can now enjoy Paramount+ at no extra cost, regardless of their subscription plan, with immediate effect under the new extended agreement. This deal also ensures that within the Canal+ universe on its decoders, and across all partner set-top boxes all Paramount+ content is seamlessly available on myCanal.

Marco Nobili, Executive Vice President and International General Manager, Paramount+, said, “We are delighted to reinforce and expand our already robust relationship with Canal+, one of our key international partners. This new partnership broadens the reach of Paramount+ to all Canal+ direct-to-consumer subscribers, enabling us to more than double our market penetration via Canal+ Group’s platforms, solidifying our position as the fourth largest service in France, reaching more than 15 per cent of homes in France. This renewed agreement also expands our collaborations across various business areas, including linear distribution and licensing, while we prepare for future streaming growth with the launch of the Paramount+ advertising tier in France.”

The extended partnership enables Canal+ Group to maintain the distribution of Paramount’s entire lineup of pay-TV channels, including MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Channel, Nickelodeon Junior, Nickelodeon Teen, Game One, J-One, and Comedy Central. The agreement also allows Canal+ to continue exclusively acquiring content for its channels and services, including Paramount Pictures films, which will premiere on Canal+ six months after their theatrical release in France, along with at least two Showtime series per year.

Canal+ subscribers can enjoy a wide range of scripted series, including Landman, Lioness, Tulsa King, and Star Trek, along with popular acquisitions like The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon through this partnership. Paramount+ also brings blockbuster films like Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and French and international originals such as Zorro and Anywhere. The platform further enriches its offerings with beloved kids’ content, including Paw Patrol and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Pascale Chabert, Director of Content Acquisitions, Main Partners of the Canal+ Group, said, “We have just reached a new milestone in the historic partnership of more than 30 years between Paramount and Canal+. The Canal+ Group is very pleased to offer access to Paramount+ content to all of its subscribers in France. Paramount is the most emblematic studio in Hollywood and Paramount+ is one of the main platforms in the market. This expanded partnership constitutes another step in the Canal+ Group’s desire to aggregate the best content and applications in the market.”
