Netflix launches a new game inspired by its upcoming Action flick Heart of Stone.
Netflix has unveiled a new game on its Discord channel inspired by Gal Gadot’s upcoming Hollywood action flick, “Heart of Stone.” The film, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Jamie Dorman, is set to premiere on August 11th.
The game, titled “Heart of Stone: Maze of Odds,” lets players step into the role of a double agent, much like Gadot’s character in the movie.
The game’s bot on Discord shuffles scenarios, ensuring a fresh experience. Whether playing solo or teaming up with friends for multiplayer fun, there’s always something new to discover, including unique collectables.
Netflix stated that the games promise fast-paced decision-making moments where players choose from a predefined set of options similar to previous Netflix’s interactive shows and films, providing a different experience whenever played.
Taking a fresh step, this marks Netflix’s debut in launching a game on Discord, as the bot was primarily used for finding shows and movies. While it’s accessible to Discord enthusiasts worldwide, the game is exclusively in English.
Netflix Continuous Expansion in Gaming Business
Netflix ventured into gaming in November 2021 and has been continuously releasing games. They’ve already introduced 55 games and have over 40 more games under development for this year.
In addition to collaborating with gaming studios, the Netflix in-house team is working on 16 titles.
According to app analytics firm Apptopia which conducted a study a year after Netflix’s launch into gaming.
As per the studies,
- Netflix games have been downloaded 34.1 million times worldwide, with the United States contributing 16% of these downloads.
- The games have an average daily active user (DAU) count of 1.63 million, roughly 0.7% of Netflix’s paid subscriber base.
Currently, Netflix games can be played on Android and iOS devices. However, Netflix has plans to expand its gaming to TV apps. In line with this, they’ve discreetly released a game controller app for iOS. An Android version of this app is anticipated to roll out shortly.
