NBCUniversal Partners with Walmart for Shoppable Ads in ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Series, ads ranging from dinnerware to fashion products
NBCUniversal has collaborated with Walmart to revolutionize how viewers shop while watching Bravo’s popular series “Below Deck Mediterranean” on Peacock.
This innovative venture introduces shoppable advertisements during the episodes airing on November 7, December 5, and December 12, transforming viewers’ experiences by enabling them to buy products similar to those seen in the show.
As fans tune in to “Below Deck Mediterranean” the day after airing, they will encounter interactive ads. These ads will feature various items from Walmart, ranging from dinnerware and culinary tools to fashion items, all of which can be purchased.
The shoppable ads will be available on the specified dates, providing an engaging shopping experience from the viewers’ screens. Using their remotes, viewers can navigate an on-screen carousel and use QR codes to complete their purchases on Walmart’s website.
The venture is powered by NBCU’s ‘Must ShopTV’ function, which employs the technology developed by KERV Interactive. This AI-driven feature recognizes items shown on-screen, enabling viewers to shop for actual products from the episode or those that capture the show’s essence.
“Walmart customers are finding inspiration everywhere and anywhere, including their favourite TV shows,” said William White, Walmart’s US chief marketing officer. “It’s why we’re always looking for innovative ways to shorten the distance between that inspiration and the ability to purchase. We know some of our customers’ most loved TV shows are on Bravo.
By expanding our shoppable TV footprint with NBCUniversal, we pair our incredible product assortment with some of their most talked-about content so our customers can quickly purchase items inspired by their favourite cast members while watching.”
Josh Feldman, global chief marketing officer of advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal, highlighted the seamless nature of this new shopping format: “For so long, viewers had to take the hard route, scouring the internet to find a product like what they saw their favourite icons or creators use in-show. Now, through the power of Must ShopTV, and with Walmart as our launch partner, Bravo fans can get even closer to the content they love by discovering the brands already part of the story.”
