Max Launches “Max Rewind” to Recap 2024

Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform, Max, has introduced a personalized year-end feature called “Max Rewind.” Drawing inspiration from similar recap formats like Spotify Wrapped, the new feature provides users a tailored summary of their streaming habits and highlights from the past year.

The newly introduced “Max Rewind” feature on Max is designed to be social media-friendly, offering users a personalized look back at their streaming habits. It highlights platform trends, individual watch histories, favorite brands and genres, viewing patterns, and avatars. Additionally, users will be assigned a unique “character” based on their viewing behavior, such as a “Trendsetter,” accompanied by curated recommendations tailored to their profile.

Notably, the new recap feature will be notified to Max subscribers through a notification on Thursday. While the feature was initially tested with a limited group of users last year, 2024 marks its first full rollout to the platform’s entire subscriber base.

The concept of a personalized year-end recap is relatively uncommon for streaming video platforms but not entirely new in the digital space. Spotify has achieved significant success over the years with its Wrapped feature, which combines overall platform trends with individual listening data in an annual release. Given the popularity of Spotify Wrapped and the anticipation it generates among its users, it’s a logical step for video platforms like Max to introduce similar features.
