Malaysia’s sooka Boosts Free Streaming Options with wedotv Deal

wedotv, the free, ad-supported streaming TV network (FAST), has signed a new content distribution agreement with sooka, one of Malaysia’s leading streaming platforms. Through this deal, sooka will now offer four wedotv channels wedotv movies, wedotv BIG stories, wedotv sports, and wedotv amor to its users at no cost.

This move marks a key step in wedotv’s Southeast Asian expansion, following its earlier launch in Indonesia via Dens.tv. With sooka as its latest partner, Malaysian viewers will gain access to a wider variety of free entertainment, from movies and documentaries to sports and telenovelas.

According to wedotv’s leadership, this partnership reflects a larger strategy to grow its audience base across Asia by tapping into markets that have shown a strong demand for diverse content.

Philipp Rotermund, co-CEO of wedotv, said, “This partnership with sooka represents a significant milestone in our Southeast Asian expansion strategy. Malaysian audiences have demonstrated a strong appetite for diverse, quality content across multiple genres. Our channel portfolio delivers precisely that range — from compelling films to insightful documentaries, engaging sports content, and captivating telenovelas. We see tremendous potential in this collaboration and hope sooka will be just the beginning of our journey to bring free, ad-supported programming to Malaysian viewers.”

The addition of wedotv’s content brings sooka’s free FAST channel lineup to 27, making it one of the most comprehensive free streaming platforms in the country.

Chu Young Lee, Director, sooka & NJOI, said, “We are pleased to partner with wedotv to launch four new FAST channels on our platform. This collaboration reinforces our dedication to providing exceptional and varied entertainment for our users. The inclusion of the wedotv channels brings our free channel portfolio to a total of 27, thereby expanding the breadth and depth of available content and enhancing our users’ viewing experience.”

The four new wedotv channels now available on sooka include:

  • wedotv movies – Featuring a wide selection of films across genres.
  • wedotv BIG stories – Documentaries and lifestyle programs that inform and inspire.
  • wedotv sports – Offering live and on-demand sports content.
  • wedotv amor – A destination for telenovelas and romantic dramas.

All of these channels are completely free for anyone who signs up for sooka. Viewers can register at no cost and instantly access the new channels. For users seeking premium entertainment and sports, sooka also offers subscription options starting at RM12.50 per month.

wedotv’s efforts to expand across Asia are being led by Greg Ang and Harold Gronenthal, both based in Singapore. Their local presence has helped accelerate the brand’s growth by securing strategic partnerships and understanding regional viewing preferences.

The expansion into Malaysia is part of a broader trend across Asia, where FAST channels are gaining popularity. These free, ad-supported networks provide viewers with an easy alternative to subscription-based streaming platforms. By partnering with local players like sooka, wedotv is making its content more accessible and aligning with evolving viewer habits.
