JioHotstar: India’s Largest OTT Platform Unveiled

JioStar, the joint venture between Viacom18 and Star India, has launched JioHotstar, a new streaming platform that combines JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. The platform brings together a large content library, live sports, and multiple language options for Indian audiences.

JioHotstar offers over 3 lakh hours of entertainment, including TV shows, movies, live sports, and international content. With a reported user base of over 50 crore, the platform aims to provide a seamless experience for both existing and new subscribers.

Our promise of Infinite Possibilities ensures that entertainment is no longer a privilege, but a shared experience for all. By integrating AI-driven recommendations and offering streaming in over 19 languages, we are personalizing content like never before.”

JioHotstar will offer both free and paid options. Users can watch select content without a subscription, while those looking for an ad-free experience can opt for paid plans starting at Rs. 149 per quarter. Existing JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar subscribers will be able to switch to JioHotstar without any disruption.

JioHotstar’s content lineup includes a mix of Indian and international programming. The platform features content in 10 languages, covering TV shows, reality entertainment, original series, movies, anime, and Hollywood productions. It has partnerships with global media companies such as Disney, NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros. Discovery HBO, and Paramount.

JioHotstar will also introduce ‘Sparks,’ a program showcasing digital creators and their content. JioHotstar will stream major sporting events, including ICC tournaments, IPL, WPL, Premier League, and Wimbledon. The platform will also feature Indian sports leagues like Pro Kabaddi and ISL.

In addition to broadcasting live matches, JioHotstar is adding interactive elements like multi-angle viewing, real-time stats overlays, and AI-powered insights to enhance the viewing experience.

JioHotstar also plans to stream live cultural and entertainment events. The platform recently broadcasted Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres live concert. They have also introduced a new brand identity, featuring a design called ‘Big Bang,’ which represents growth and innovation. The platform is also offering businesses new ways to reach audiences through personalized advertising and interactive ad formats.
