IBC2023: Mux to demonstrate how it scales to more than 30 million concurrent viewers for major streaming events

A showcase of Mux Data will show why it’s the industry-leading platform in enabling the best-possible quality of experience

San Francisco, September 5, 2023 – Mux, the leading provider of online video infrastructure is excited to announce that it’ll be exhibiting at IBC2023 in Amsterdam from 15-18 September, where it will be giving visitors insight into how they can better scale their workflows for major online streaming events.

Showcasing the Mux platform which comprises Mux Data, Mux Video, and Mux Player, the team onsite will be talking about why so many companies from TF1, Optus and RTBF to PBS, Paramount ,Fox and Vimeo rely on Mux’s APIs to build the highest-quality video experiences at scale.

Understanding and monitoring what viewers are experiencing when watching video and pairing that with insights on issues you can address in real time is critical to a successful streaming event. Major broadcasters expect a reliable video monitoring system that delivers actionable real-time insights with very low latency. Key demos on stand (Hall 5, Stand H48) will showcase Mux Data, which delivers streaming analytics and actionable insights with lower latency than any alternative in the industry. Mux’s team of video experts will explain how by deploying Mux Data, customers can solve major streaming issues before the support team is overwhelmed and the user experience is interrupted. This data can help them to improve the overall quality of experience (QoE) for viewers and get end-to-end visibility into their live and on-demand video workflow, no matter the scale of their viewership.

Mux will be on hand to talk to visitors about how it stepped up to monitor one of the largest live streaming events in history earlier this year, which saw more than 30 million concurrent viewers and 17 billion views total, and 7 petabytes of data analyzed throughout 60 events over several weeks.

“Over the last year, Mux has been privileged to monitor video at unprecedented scale for the largest events in the world, across all major sports,” commented Mux CEO and Co-founder, Jon Dahl. “Our customers rely on Mux as a key partner to ensure the success and reliability of their streaming platforms. We’ve shipped dozens of improvements to Mux Data over the last few months that reinforce our key differentiators: offering lower monitoring latency than any other industry alternative, at any scale, with rich dashboards and APIs that surface the most important insights quickly to our users.”

Dahl will be onsite throughout the show, alongside the company’s other three founders; Adam Brown, Matt McClure and Steve Heffernan where they’ll be speaking to attendees about their mission to democratize online video by solving the hard problems developers face when building video; namely video encoding and streaming, video monitoring, and more.

A Mux Data integration with AWS will also be exhibited at the show by the cloud provider on stand 5.C90. This will include a Chalk Talk demonstration of the platform by Mux’s Levi Miller on Sunday 17 September.

Mux’s engineering manager Sarah Brown will also be presenting a session titled Actionable insights with industry-leading speed and scale on IBC’s Content Everywhere stage (Stage 1, Stand 5.A28) on Friday and Saturday, 15-16 September at 5pm CEST. In this session, Sarah will be demonstrating the Mux Data platform and how with just a few lines of code, users can leverage the world’s most scalable video data to monitor video performance and quickly pinpoint any QoE issues in order to take action.

And if that all gets you a little warm, you can cool off with a scoop and a cone when Mux hosts an ice cream social on its stand between 1-4pm CEST on Saturday 16 September, which is open to all show visitors. The stand will also be home to two happy hours jointly hosted with Mux partners Evergent and Fastly, taking place on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September, respectively between 4-6pm CEST.
