Fuse Media Announces New C-Level Executives

Fuse Media has announced Patrick Courtney as the Chief Business Officer and Marc Leonard as the Chief Content Officer within its executive leadership team. Both individuals will maintain reporting lines to Fuse Media’s Chairman and CEO, Miguel Roggero.

Patrick Courtney is tasked with spearheading and implementing long-term strategic initiatives aimed at positioning Fuse Media for sustained growth. Under Courtney’s leadership, which he garnered from his previous position as head of streaming & business development, the company has emerged as a frontrunner in this category, boasting channels available across major platforms. Courtney played a pivotal role in steering Fuse Media’s foray into the FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) space.

Notably, Courtney’s tenure has been marked by transformative partnerships with industry giants such as Lionsgate, Tastemade, and TMB (Trusted Media Brands), culminating in the establishment of the Fuse Media Culture Collective. This collaborative venture has enabled it to penetrate over 85% of multicultural households significantly expanding Fuse Media’s reach. Additionally, in diversifying the company’s revenue streams and enhancing its digital footprint, Courtney played a key role in launching Fuse+’s subscription streaming service.

Before assuming his role at Fuse Media, Patrick Courtney held the position of Senior Vice President of programming and marketing strategy and was responsible for overseeing programming, audience development, distribution, and marketing initiatives at the digital comedy network Above Average, which was founded by Broadway Video under the helm of Lorne Michaels. Before his tenure at Above Average, Courtney served as Vice President of client services and was responsible for overseeing programming, audience development, distribution, and marketing initiatives at Affinitive. Additionally, in driving the growth of its video network he played a pivotal role in Forbes’ audience development team.

Furthermore, Marc Leonard in his newly appointed role as Chief Content Officer, is set to lead initiatives aimed at pioneering innovative content, products, and services to drive Fuse Media’s ongoing growth trajectory. Leonard played a pivotal role in establishing Fuse Media as a pioneering media brand dedicated to fully inclusive content with a decade-long tenure at the company. Fuse Media’s content has garnered widespread acclaim and recognition on the international stage, under his stewardship and secured prestigious awards such as the Peabody, Emmys, Critics’ Choice Awards, and diversity accolades from esteemed organizations including the NAACP, GLAAD, and the Imagen Awards.

Leonard also played a key role in the establishment of Ignition Studios by leveraging a team of acclaimed diverse content specialists with a proven track record of developing shows that resonate with and captivate young audiences globally. Notably, before his tenure at Fuse Media, Marc Leonard in his role as Senior Vice President of Programming for Logo accumulated 22 years of experience at Viacom Media Networks. In this capacity, Leonard played a pivotal role in the team that sanctioned the acclaimed series “RuPaul’s Drag Race”  and held responsibilities encompassing programming strategy, content management, and acquisitions.

Miguel Roggero, Fuse Media’s Chairman and CEO, said “Fuse Media has experienced incredible growth over the years to the point where it was critical to create a new level of leadership to continue this momentum. Appointing Marc Leonard as the company’s first Chief Content Officer and Patrick Courtney as the first Chief Business Officer is a natural evolution of our growth and very well-deserved. Over the last ten years, Marc’s leadership has been nothing short of exemplary and he has been a driving force in establishing Fuse Media as the leading creator and distributor of award-winning multicultural content. Patrick has been a critical figure in bringing Fuse Media’s brands to the masses; from establishing us as one of the first cable brands to enter the FAST space, to launching the company’s SVOD, Fuse+. These strategic appointments will be instrumental in ensuring the company’s continued growth in the media landscape as the champion and go-to destination for an ever-growing and ever-evolving multicultural audience.”
