Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has secured the TV rights to the 2026 Football World Cup for €55 million, after submitting the highest bid to FIFA, beating out private broadcasters, according to El Mundo. RTVE will share broadcast rights with TV group Mediapro, which is expected to launch its own channel to sublicense the rights to other platforms.
This deal is part of RTVE’s broader strategy to secure high-profile sports events, with a total investment of over €360 million from 2025 onwards. Other major rights acquired include:
- Euro Cup 2028 – €50 million
- Olympic Games (Los Angeles 2028) – €112 million
- Olympic Games (Brisbane 2032) – Amount undisclosed
- Winter Olympics (Cortina D’Ampezzo 2026 and the Alps 2030) – Amount undisclosed
- Spanish National Team (2026–2028) – €60 million
- Nations League – Amount undisclosed
- Tour de France (2026–2030) – €20.6 million
- King’s Cup (2024–2025) – €14.8 million
- European Championship Finals (2025–2027) – €7.5 million
- Additional rights to La Vuelta Ciclista, FIBA competitions, and women’s football
Meanwhile, DAZN and Mediaset have partnered to distribute the FIFA Club World Cup in Spain and Italy this summer. Mediaset will broadcast one free-to-air match per day, while DAZN will provide coverage of all 63 matches.

The Club World Cup kicks off on June 14 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, featuring 32 top clubs playing across 12 venues in the US. The final will take place at MetLife Stadium in New York on July 13.
