Dailymotion Acquires AI Video Editing App Mojo to Power Creator Tools

Dailymotion, the video-sharing platform owned by French media giant Canal+, has acquired Archery, the company behind Mojo, a popular mobile app that uses AI to help users create and edit videos. Mojo has been downloaded more than 50 million times, becoming a go-to tool for influencers, content creators, marketers, and media professionals around the world. This move marks a strategic shift for Dailymotion as it looks to strengthen its position in the digital video creation and monetization space. By bringing Mojo into its product ecosystem, Dailymotion aims to offer a full suite of tools for video creation, distribution, and monetization all in one place.

Guillaume Clément, CEO, Dailymotion, said, “With Mojo, we add an essential cornerstone to our offer, and in addition, we are delighted to welcome the highly talented Mojo Team, whose expertise and creativity will allow us to reinforce our capacity to innovate. Our ambition is clear: offer creators and brands the best tools to create, distribute and monetise their videos, in total autonomy.”

Mojo is known for its easy-to-use interface and powerful features like brand kits, AI-powered background removal, animated effects, and customizable templates. It simplifies video creation, making it accessible even for users with little to no editing experience. The app is especially popular on social media platforms, where eye-catching video content is key to engagement. With this acquisition, Dailymotion hopes to give creators more reasons to choose its platform over rivals like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

Jean Patry and Francescu Santoni, Co-founders, Mojo / Archery Inc., said, “The association between Dailymotion and Mojo represents a unique opportunity to put Europe at the heart of the social video experience. The complementarity between a global distribution network and a creative platform offers a key element to achieve this ambition.” They added, “For Dailymotion, it represents an opportunity to attract new talent and influence the emergence of a new generation of content creators, by relying on Mojo’s expertise in terms of video editing: innovative, simple, high quality. For Mojo, it will allow us to join the virtuous loop where Dailymotion users transition from content consumption to creating their own videos.”

Mojo will continue to function independently for now. Users won’t see any immediate changes in how they access or use the app, but they will gain new benefits from the integration. For example, Mojo users will soon have direct access to Dailymotion’s global distribution network and monetization features, helping them reach wider audiences and earn from their content.

This also opens up new opportunities for brands and advertisers. Dailymotion Pro clients will be able to use Mojo’s AI-based creative tools to produce personalized content more quickly and with better performance tracking. This could be especially useful for marketing teams that want to test and launch campaigns across different platforms without needing a separate video production team.

Dailymotion’s acquisition of Mojo is a clear signal that it wants a bigger role in the creator economy, a space dominated by U.S. and Chinese tech giants. The company is betting that combining a content creation platform (Mojo) with a distribution and monetization engine (Dailymotion) will make it more competitive.

Still, success isn’t guaranteed. The creator tools space is crowded, and platform loyalty often depends on where creators can earn the most money and reach the largest audiences. Dailymotion will need to prove that its all-in-one offering brings real value to creators, especially when compared to rivals. While financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, the partnership is seen as a step toward giving European platforms a stronger presence in the global video market.
