Charter Launches Cost-Effective Bundles on Streaming App

U.S. cable operator Charter, which claimed the top spot as the No.1 pay TV operator in America last year, is launching two new “skinny bundles” to provide TV service options for its broadband customers. Spectrum TV Stream and Spectrum Stream Latino are its two service options, which will be delivered over the Internet rather than traditional cable.

Sharon Peters, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Charter said, “We are focused on creating more flexible, lower-cost video options for our customers that include a bundle of channels they want to watch. With Spectrum TV Stream and Stream Latino, our customers now have the option to choose high-value, internet-delivered streaming TV packages that include the most popular news and entertainment networks and Spanish-language programming.”

Spectrum TV Stream offers a diverse range of news and entertainment networks from prominent companies such as The Walt Disney Company, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery, featuring more than 90 live channels. Meanwhile, Spectrum Stream Latino provides a rich selection of over 45 Spanish-language channels, including BeIN Sports en Español, Bandamax, Discovery en Español, Galavisión, TUDN, Telemundo, Univision, and UniMás. Notably, Charter also offers a Spanish-language linear TV package known as Mi Plan Latino, ensuring a wide variety of options for our customers.

The introduction of Spectrum TV Stream by Charter follows a carriage deal dispute with Disney last year. Disney content was removed from Charter’s Spectrum cable lineup, partly due to Disney’s bundling practice involving ESPN, which allowed for higher pricing. Furthermore, Charter does not feature ESPN in its new streaming service. However, ESPN+ is available in its Spectrum TV Select Plus package after Charter reached an agreement late last year.

Additionally, Spectrum TV Stream is priced at $39.99 per month, plus applicable taxes for Spectrum Internet customers. This TV Stream offers a wide range of channels, including AMC, A&E, CNN, BBC America, Discovery, Disney Channel, FX, Hallmark, Fox News, HGTV, National Geographic, TCM, TLC, and, in selected markets, Spectrum News. Meanwhile, Spectrum Stream Latino is priced at $24.99 per month, plus applicable taxes. This new offering can be purchased either as a standalone video package or bundled with the Spectrum TV Stream service and is available to Spectrum’s internet customers.

Both the Spectrum TV Stream and Spectrum Stream Latino packages can be accessed through the Spectrum TV App and offer access to on-demand content. The app is compatible with a variety of mobile and connected devices, including iOS, Xumo Stream Box, Android phones and tablets, Roku, XboxOne, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Kindle Fire, Samsung Smart TVs, and computers via SpectrumTV.com.
