Reality shows – great platforms for content and audiences
Following the success of Shark Tank India on SonyLIV, it is exciting and refreshing to see aha launch a business reality series and provide a platform for entrepreneurs to get their ideas validated by a panel of experts, raise funding, and gain a whole of publicity in the process.
And it goes to show that reality shows are important to every content house’s strategy.
Be it Zee’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (that started in 1995 and is still running), Super Singer, MTV Roadies, Shark Tank, or Bigg Boss – a reality show provides non-scripted, edge-of-your-seats entertainment to the audience – cutting across genres, age groups, and geographies. Especially if the reality show is a long-running commitment from the production house (like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Roadies, or Bigg Boss), the audiences tend to be loyal and repeat viewership is high.
In the age of video-on-demand content consumption, reality shows can provide a seemingly endless source of content that a publisher can use to engage their audiences well after a production season.
Each contestant’s appearance is an episode that can be recycled into short-format scenes, shorts, reels, behind-the-scenes content, and much more, increasing the life span of a piece of content well beyond its date of airing.
And, aha is no stranger to reality shows.
Having produced Aha Bhojanambu (a cooking reality show), All is Well, Yaari with Rana (celebrities engaging with Rana Daggubati), Sam Jam (hosted by Samantha Ruth Prabhu), aha knows the power of celebrity-hosted reality shows, and it will be interesting to see how the audiences react and engage with Nenu Super Woman.
