Apple TV+ has expanded its reach by launching on Prime Video Channels in Japan and the Netherlands. From April 9th onwards, Prime members in these countries can subscribe to Apple TV+ as an add-on channel directly through Prime Video.
To mark the launch, new customers and eligible returning subscribers can enjoy a special promotional rate: just 200 yen (€1.25) per month for the first three months, available until April 24th.
By subscribing through Prime Video, members can access a wide variety of Apple Original series and movies such as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Ted Lasso, Severance, Pachinko, Hijack, Prehistoric Planet, The Morning Show, Invasion, The Snoopy Show, Slow Horses, The Studio, and more. Also available are hit films including Wolfs, The Gorge, and Napoleon, plus exclusive live sports such as Friday Night Baseball (MLB) and Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series events.
This launch builds on Apple TV+’s growing presence through Prime Video Channels, following earlier rollouts in countries like the United States, India, the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and New Zealand. The service first became available in the U.S. via Prime Video in October 2024 and in India earlier this month.
Kelly Day, Vice President of International at Prime Video, said, “We’re delighted to continue to roll out Apple TV+ on Prime Video with the launches in Japan, India, and the Netherlands today bringing Prime Video customers an even greater selection of TV shows and films, all in one app experience.”
Keisuke Oishi, Country Manager of Prime Video Japan, said, “We are super excited to welcome Apple TV+ and its stellar content to Prime Video’s extensive library in Japan. Prime members in Japan can now access Apple Originals through a simple add-on subscription, benefiting from streamlined content discovery, unified watchlists, and centralized billing. Over the years, we’ve built Prime Video in Japan as a first-stop entertainment destination offering a wide selection of premium programming including local and international Originals, anime, movies and an incredible calendar of live sports. With 72 add-on subscriptions available through our service, we’re delivering on our promise of being the preferred destination for premium entertainment in Japan.”
Apple’s SVP of Services, Eddy Cue, said, “Viewers in the US have been loving the ability to subscribe to Apple TV+ on Prime Video and we’re pleased to now launch this offering in Japan and India. We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to audiences around the world.”
With this move, both Apple and Amazon are making it easier for global audiences to discover and subscribe to premium content through a single app interface, further simplifying entertainment access across borders.
